background & our aims

Kids Who Care is formed of a group of collaborative, evidence-based research projects that seek to better understand and address the needs of vulnerable children, adolescents and families in AIDS-affected communities in South Africa. The objectives of Kids Who Care originate from the Young Carers Study, which ran from 2010 to 2012. Young Carers focused specifically on the impact of living in an AIDS-affected family for children across 3 South African provinces. It has subsequently expanded into multiple further research projects, currently centred in the Eastern Cape, and working in partnership with a large number of other organisations and governmental departments.

Kids Who Care aims to provide evidence-based high quality research and services support to vulnerable children and families and work in collaboration with other organisations that primarily deal with public health and social welfare services, to assist vulnerable children and families. The income and property of Kids Who Care are used solely for the promotion of ithese objectives.
